St. Vitus Peak

The highest peak of the island, with the 14th-century church of St. Vitus at the top.

The view takes in Pag, Kolan, Šimuni, Mandre and Košljun, and the islands of Rab, Lošinj, Silba, Olib and Maun. Several marked hiking trails lead up; the renovated trail from the old town of Šimuni is accessible by car.

Skrivanat Tower

Until the mid-19th century Pag was enclosed by walls and defensive towers. Built in 1468, Skrivanat is the best-preserved part of that system.

A promenade now passes the tower, and it hosts cultural and entertainment events in summer.

Benedictine Monastery

Its Church of the Annunciation, completed in 1483, is the finest Gothic-Renaissance monument in Pag.

The enclosed order of nuns guards the Reliquary of the Holy Thorn, brought from the Holy Land in 1433, and bakes the island's famous baškotini.

Old Town of Pag

One kilometre south of today's town lies the old city, once large and rich, now an archaeological site and sanctuary with the Romanesque church of St. Mary and the ruins of a Franciscan monastery.

Every year on the Assumption, since 1885, townspeople carry the statue of the Virgin in procession to the "new" Pag. Legend says the monastery well filled overnight during a terrible drought after long prayers.

Church of St. George

Patron saint of the town and the island. Building began before 1465; in the late 16th century the church was extended and given its Renaissance façade. Villa Padre stands right beside it.

Rector's Palace

Built in the 15th century on the main square, for centuries the seat of town and island government. Today it hosts plays and concerts of the Pag Cultural Summer.

Here you can watch how Pag needle lace is made — entered on the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage in 2009.
